Understanding Confluence

Where does the name come from?

Confluence is the place where two or more things come together to form something larger, more powerful, and more irresistible than any of the individual contributors on their own. Transformation is possible because of the coming together, the joining of forces. The Confluence is the place where this new power begins and the starting point of what is yet to come.

Consider rivers...

The Mississippi River shares a confluence with the Missouri river and then another with the Ohio River, forming the largest river in North America.

The Colorado River shares a confluence with the Green River and then another with the San Juan River. By the time the strengthened Colorado reaches Arizona, it has the power to sculpt the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Consider teams...

The Philadelphia Eagles are the current Super Bowl Champions because of the coming together of all the components that made them great–the perfect blend of talent, coaching, and leadership. They are champions because of the confluence of all the individual parts.

Now consider collegians coming together to be strengthened as followers of Christ:

Sharing faith experiences and testimonies

Listening with open hearts and minds as the Word of God is taught and applied

Praying and worshipping together

Preparing for whatever is next

Consider the powerful impact that results from such a confluence.

Confluence is more than a conference

Confluence is about something much bigger than any one individual or any one group. Confluence is the place we all come together and then move forward, transformed by and for God. Confluence is what makes it possible for us to have greater Kingdom impact than we ever could on our own. The world is transformed because of Confluence!
